Event description

Description

It's hard to think of a job that has NOT been changed by Information Technology (IT), or is in the proces of being changed. The number of jobs in the IT industry is exploding! But guess what? You don't have to be a math or science wiz with a squeaky clean background to have a career that takes care of you and your family.

Join us Saturday, October 14th for the H.O.P.E. Project IT Summit. The day is designed to give you an inside look at one of the most available jobs in IT, led by people who took this fast route into a life-changing career. They'll show you how you to prepare for an IT career, as well as learn and practice skills that can help you get – and succeed at – almost any job. Plus, hear from government and industry experts about the future of IT careers and workforce development in the District. And it's all FREE!

SPEND THE DAY WITH US:

8:30 a.m. - 3:50 p.m. = Breakfast, Lunch, Featured Speakers and Concurrent Sessions.

4:00 - 5:00 p.m. = The IT Summit Town Hall. Have a meaningful conversation about putting people to work in IT with government leaders, IT experts and H.O.P.E. Project graduates. We will talk about what employers are really looking for, how workforce development pros can more effectively connect with funding sources, what the "clearance" process really means as well as what it feels like when you go through it. Do you have a burning question about getting into IT, or the risks and rewards of any job-training program? Bring it to the H.O.P.E. Project IT Summit Town Hall.

The H.O.P.E. Project has helped hundreds of people from urban and low-income communities start IT careers. Why? Because too often we’ve been left out of groundbreaking economic opportunities, especially those of us who are 17 to 25 years old. But with the H.O.P.E. Project's proven approach, being over 25 is not a problem. If you're 17 or older, make the commitment, and we'll help you make it a career.

This H.O.P.E. Project IT Summit is a full day, includes Continental Breakfast and lunch. You must register, but yes, it's all FREE!
