Event description

Description

Come use your tech chops to give back to your local community! On November 10, Blackstone Federal is hosting a humanitarian code sprint for HopeOneSource, an innovative technology that is helping prevent and end homelessness in Washington, DC.

HopeOneSource is a collaborative messaging tool that uses geolocated text messages to connect DC residents at-risk and experiencing homelessness to nearby career and social services. People registered for HopeOneSource receive timely text messages about free meals, legal aid, job training, health screenings and other nearby available services that can help them on the path to ending their homelessness.

The HopeOneSource team is looking for developers (especially those with Drupal/PHP experience), testers and business analysts to help improve existing functionality and build out several important new features.

Come learn what HopeOneSource is all about, help push forward critical technological infrastructure that will enable HopeOneSource to help more people, and network with some of the best and brightest inside the Beltway.

Lunch, snacks, beverages, collaboration with other amazing, talented volunteers and the rewarding feeling that comes with knowing you’re helping in the fight to end homelessness in DC will be provided.
