Join the North End Wellness Coalition in combination with Second Congregational UCC, Northlawn United Methodist, St. Luke's Lutheran (ELCA), North Park Presbyterian, St. Jude Roman Catholic Church,St. Andrew's Episcopal, as we offer a FREE premiere of the Hope Bridge Movie.
The Elhart Family of Holland, MI has teamed with the producers of Hope Bridge and The Mental Health Foundation of West Michigan. Hope Bridge is a movie and so much more. This 90 minute film will give you answers to the “why” if you’re struggling with the reason a friend or family member took their life. It will also provide you visual signs to look for to help loved ones who may be experiencing symptoms of depression. Mental illness conditions are treatable. Suicide is preventable. Hope is real.
During this event you’ll hear from local experts from your community that will help provide you with answers to questions around mental health.
During our Hope Bridge + be nice. community event, you will learn about the NICE action plan which will provide you with the tools that can be utilized if you suspect someone may be struggling with a mental illness. The Action Plan creates a community shift by teaching you simple daily actions that can have a direct effect on the way that someone thinks, acts and feels (their mental health). The NICE action plan is:
N- Notice-- Signs of depression or other changes in someone’s behavior.
I- Invite-- Yourself to initiate conversation.
C- Challenge-- The stigma; communicate important resources.
E- Empower-- Yourself with the knowledge that you can have an effect on how someone thinks, acts and feels (their mental health).
Please join us for this movie event and community conversation about depression and mental health. This event is FREE (with pizza!), but please REGISTER online.
