Event description

Description

Through History at Play, Judith Kalaora from the Boston area, brings to life the story of unheralded women who have played significant roles in history. Her latest creation, World War Women, explores the lives of five women - Vera Atkins, Virginia Hall, Jane Fawcett, Ann Baumgartner, and Jacqueline Cochran - heroines of World War II. These women gathered intelligence, spied on Nazi Germany, descrambled the Enigma machine, and served as pilots in WASP. This 75-minute presentation sheds light on the accomplishments of these women in the context of World War II.

As part of their thriving Senior Arts Program, Treyton Oak Towers will provide the venue for the performance and dinner, complete with wine and dessert service. Dinner will include green salad with fruit and nuts, tenderloin with shrimp skewers, parmesan baby potatoes, multi-colored asparagus, hot rolls and cheese cake. Please indicate if a vegetarian dinner is needed. In addition to wine at dinner, coffee and tea will be provided both during dinner and after the performance during a Meet and Greet with Judith Kalaora, who will answer questions about her performance and her research into the lives of these amazing women.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Honor Flight Bluegrass whose mission is to fly Veterans of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam from the Kentuckiana area to Washington DC to view the Memorials erected in their honor.
