Honky-Tonkin' Holiday Hoedown BEN HOPE & THE UPTOWN OUTFIT + Very Special Guests THE DIXONS
Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 10:30 PM - Sunday, December 15, 2013 at 1:30 AM (EST)
New York, NY
Ben Hope is a honky-tonkin' songwriter from Birmingham, Alabama. He's lived in NYC for 7 years now, and has enjoyed some success both as an actor and with his band the UPTOWN OUTFIT. Ben is currently the standby for the lead in ONCE the musical on Broadway. The Uptown Outfit is a revolving door of stellar musicians that Ben has known for various amounts of time and will call on in a pinch. This makes the Outfits shows extra special 'cause you rarely see the same group twice! "The Outfit" debuting at Lucille's at B.B. Kings on August 9th will feature several new comers including Erica Swindell on the fiddle, Rob Preuss on the bass, and Brien Brannigan on as many instruments as he's willing to lug around. The music of Ben Hope and the Uptown Outfit is inspired by the best honky-tonk and country music heroes of old. Starting with the yodelers and crooners like Hank Williams and Lefty Frizzell to the modern boys of old school sounds like Dwight Yokum and Garth Brooks to the backwoods hillbillies like the Avett Brothers and Old Crow Medicine show. It's a rowdy sound that gets in your bones and changes the way you drink for a night.
CST's Take on The Dixons: Bakersfield in Brooklyn...time machine country music with just the right congregation of fools, broken hearts and brokenhearted fools. "One of the year's best country albums comes from an unknown Brooklyn band? Hell yeah!" Chris Aaland, Durango Telegraph "...good original songs, there were a few that I had to grab the CD cover and say "who wrote that? And it turned out to be an original... I really dig the band!" Deke Dickerson, Entertainer
