Description

Starting January 25th, 2018, through March 1st, 2018

If you want to take robotics to the city or travel into outer space or learn more about biomechanical structures of animals, this is the course for you. Each lesson introduces new models related to science, physics, astronomy, and technology in general. We build, program, and explore clever robot models of different animals, futuristic robots, spaces ships, and astronomical models inspired in real life and science fiction novels, and artifacts that could improve life in a modern world. We also explore robotics, sensors, programming, engineering and more. This program was created to enhance students' curiosity and science skills. Building Lego robotics models of different animals like a gorilla, parrots, turtle, frogs, or space stations, robots like curiosity, or the canadarm model, forklift artifact, biplane, windmill and more. We use working motors, gears, cams and sensors before programming with the intuitive WeDo robotics software to bring them to life.

HERE THE KEY LEARNING VALUES FOR THEM:

1. Introduce the theory behind working with simple machines using gears, levers, pulleys, and transmission of motion.

2. Developing scientific inquiry skills. Develop students’ core skills in communication, team building and problem-solving.

3. Understanding the basics concepts of science and technology

4. Collecting data and describing outcomes.

5. Understanding of basic science concepts related to robotics

6. Build skills in science, engineering, and technology

7. Explore the outer space, planets, and astronomy.

8. Explore the biomechanics structures of different animals and how to use it in real-life.

9. Learn about new technologies and robots that could improve life in a modern city

Materials for every lesson include:

  • extensive introduction illustrated with graphics and animations. We start our classes with a reading-discussion session related to the topic we will cover.
  • detailed instructions for building LEGO WeDo robot,
  • step-by-step programming guide,
  • educational materials and other extras,
  • printable student workbook, when required.
