Course Description

Everyday communication is the centerpiece of every lesson. Topics revolve around sharing information about our environment and us. Grammar is introduced in context, with an emphasis on developing question and answering skills. You learn conversational strategies to help you maintain a conversation. Interaction activities allow you to rehearse what you’ve learned. In this 6-unit course Students will learn a full introduction of American Sign Language and the Culture of Deaf People in the United States.

Unit 3: Talking about Where You Live

Unit 4: Talking about family

Unit 5: Talking about everyday activities

Unit 6: Storytelling

The following textbooks are required for this course. Students can purchase from their choice of vendors:

Signing Naturally Student Workbook Units 1-6 by Cheri Smith/ Ella Mae Lentz. Ken Mikos, Publishing Dawn SignPress. Deaf Again by Mark Drolsbaugh Fourth edition, Publishing, Handwave Publication.

You are required to have solid computer skills, working webcam (by the first day of class) and an account with youtube.com. High speed internet is required. You will setup a goreact.com student account ($19.99 per student) for assigned video submissions. All other assignments will be uploaded to Debbie@easysigningmn.com.
