Event description

Description

Bowen therapy technique is often referred to as the "homeopathy of body work" resulting in an increase in practitioners of homeopathy including it in their practice.

The alignment of the general concepts of Homeopathy and BT allow the two modalities to be complementary and similar in a way that invites comparison.

Homeopathy, developed by Samuel Hahnemann, is known for its holistic system of medicine which stimulates the body's physical, mental and emotional healing responses with no known contraindications.

Three fundamental principles of Homeopathy are essential concepts to the practice and healing of Homeopathy:

  1. The Law of Similars (like cures like)
  2. The Minimum Dose (the smallest amount that will bring about healing)
  3. The Totality of Symptoms (treatment tailored to each person according to their complete symptom picture)

Bowen therapy technique, a gentle, hands -on healing art, was developed in the 1950s by an Australian, Thomas Bowen.

  1. As with Homeopathy, Bowen treatments are tailored to each individual according to their complete symptom picture, including not only physical symptoms but also their mental and emotional state. This is analogous to one of Homeopathy's principles, The Totality of Symptoms.
  2. Depending on the patient's symptom picture, a Bowen practitioner chooses among many distinct Bowen therapy moves using those which are similar and most specific to the symptoms of the patient. This is comparable to 'like cures like' or 'similar suffering'.
  3. A minimum of Bowen moves are received by the patient who rests comfortably on a padded table, fully clothed in loose apparel. No oils are used during light rolling movements of the practitioner's fingers in precise patterns over specific areas of the body.

The smallest number of moves or procedures along with the lightest touch on the fewest areas of the body constitutes a 'minimum dose' – the smallest amount that will bring about healing. This is similar to The Law of the Minimum Dose.

Join us at the Homeopathy Delaware meeting on June 3, 2020, the first Wednesday, when Barbara Bason, practitioner of Homeopathy and Bowen therapy technique will tell us more about Bowen therapy including how it complements her practice of Homeopathy and how it can be a stand -alone modality of healing for the person suffering from chronic and acute complaints, including injuries. The class will include some demonstrations of Bowen therapy technique.

About the speaker, Barbara Bason:
Barbara is a graduate of the University of Delaware with degrees in Biology and Medical Technology.

She holds certificates in classical Homeopathy from the Allen Academy (Robert Bannan) and in advanced classical Homeopathy from the Dynamis School (Jeremy Sherr).

Barbara is a registered member of both the National Center for Homeopathy and the Minnesota Homeopathic Association.

Following a 10 year career in childbirth education and doula/midwifery work, Barbara established her own practice in family-centered Classical Homeopathy in 1999. She is a certified CEASE Therapy practitioner (Complete Elimination of Autistic Spectrum Expression) and a certified supervisor for Free and Healthy Children International (homeoprophylaxis for infectious, contagious disease).

Barbara is also certified in the practice of Bowen Therapy, a gentle form of physical therapy that has been called ‘the body work of homeopathy’. She added the Bowen Therapy to her practice in 2001 as a complement to her homeopathy practice.

Barbara is passionate about natural approaches to healing and believes a well informed public — knowledgeable about their options — offers the best solution for making sound personal choices.

To that end, Barbara donates her time and expertise on a monthly basis to teach “all who are interested” in learning about how to use homeopathy in acute, self-limiting health situations such as injuries and illnesses, thus helping people feel better quickly without the side-effects of conventional medicines.
