Event description

Description

We spend a lot of time and money addressing homelessness in Ottawa, and investing in local agencies, shelters and social services, but don’t seem to be making much progress. Why not?

The Civic Leaders Summit will offer insights on the - opportunities - tools - and resources - available to civic leaders to impact homelessness and housing outcomes in Ottawa. Learn more about local needs, and how the system works as we come together to ask the tough questions such as:

  • What will it take get more affordable housing built in Ottawa?
  • Should we invest more tax dollars into the problem?
  • How can we work together to help get people off the streets and into housing?
  • What’s at stake for rural communities?
  • How can Ottawa better adapt to changing social needs?

With over 7,530 people sleeping in shelters in 2017, and a growing wait list of over 10,000 people in need of affordable housing, it’s clear we need a renewed focus on poverty education and prevention in Ottawa.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to learn directly from Ottawa's social service providers on these issues.
