Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

Each winter solstice (the longest night of the year), Care for the Homeless holds a Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day program to commemorate those who have passed away that year without stable housing, and to advocate for policies to prevent and end homelessness. This year we have partnered with the MPA Program at LIU Brooklyn and Urban Pathways. The event will begin with a meal at 4:30 p.m. followed by the program at 5:30 p.m., including remarks and a memorial portion when the names of those who have passed away are read while a bell tolls, a candle is lit, and information about that person is projected on a screen. The event is free and open to the public. Join us for what is always a very moving observance.
