Description
Our Fabric Stash lends a Humanitarian Helping Hand for Homelessness.
Our Fabric Stash is organizing a National Community Sew-in for Homelessness “A Community that Sews Together, Gives Together” – This year the “Gift of Social Justice” is a waterproof “homeless sleep care cushion”.
To support (see website www.ourfabricstash.com for purchase details), purchase a kit to participate in a collective effort to SEW “homeless care cushions” -OR- purchase a “completed homeless sleep care cushion” AND distribute them to persons in need within your local community.
Volunteers Wanted to assist with the sewing (and other non-sewing related tasks) and can sign up here via the ticket link -- no cost to participate and volunteer your time.
FAQs
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
6th Grade and above are welcome to come and volunteer. All children should be accompanied by an adult.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Free parking is available at the facility. Bus 124 drops you at the location.
What can I bring into the event?
Here are some items to consider bringing to the Homeless Care Initiative (knowing how to sew is NOT required):
- Sewing machine
- Pins and pin cushion – your pins may migrate so these should be ones you would like to donate
- Scissors
- Thread stand — optional: we have thread on the cones but not enough stands
- 5+ bobbins already filled – more if you have extra bobbins
- Your snack of choice
