Come on this exclusive tour of the House of Earth & Sky by Aidlin Darling Design. For a VIP experience, come for a more intimate tour of the home with the design team before the public viewing times.

2:30 – 5:00 pm Open House

Come to the Open House portion of the tour where the design team will still be on site to answer any of your questions about the home.

This sustainable home celebrates the intersection of earth and sky. One enters below grade and ascends vertically through the ground to arrive in a series of glass pavilions, anchored by rammed earth walls and sheltered under kite-like floating roofs. Ecological responsibility guided the design of this LEED-Platinum, Net Zero Energy home. Earth walls utilize on-site material resources and provide thermal mass. Lightweight roof planes orient photovoltaics toward the sun, guide rainwater to cisterns, and provide shade through calibrated overhangs.

Important tour information:

+ Tickets are transferable but are non refundable. Tour proceeds rain or shine.

+ AIA members must have a valid AIA member ID# to receive the member rate.

+ Home is located in Hillsborough, CA (San Mateo County). We encourage you to plan your day ahead of time.

+ Due to the hilly nature of the terrain, this tour is not ADA accessible. There will be multiple stairs and steep inclines and declines at several of the home.

+ Because of limited parking availability at several of the homes, some amount of walking may be required.

+ Tickets purchased on or before September 7th will be mailed. Tickets purchased after this date will need to be picked up at the AIASF office starting Monday September 14th or can be picked up at will call on the day of the tour.

+ No children under 12 years of age are permitted on the tours. Only infants that can be held in a carrier that is strapped onto an adult will be allowed inside of the homes.
