Event description

Description

This class is based on the founder's family's favorite dishes, with only minor adjustments for vegans (and gluten-free if using tamari). Below is the full menu. We are very excited about offering this class not only because it gives you a balanced meal with easy-to-make and delicious dishes, but also because it serves as a 101 to Chinese Food Therapy (e.g. using food to help you cleanse your body) and Chinese Cooking Methods (e.g. stir-frying, steaming, braising). Each student will receive 8 pages of full-color, illustrated recipes to take home. Ticket is US$80/person + tax.

Appetizer:
- Pan-fried Burdock Root Matchsticks
- Crunchy Woodear Mushroom Salad
Main:
- Stir-fried Bok Choy with Garlic
- Spicy Steamed Tofu
- Braised Shiitake Mushroom
- Ginger Pesto Sauce
- Fried Rice with Fermented Tofu
Dessert:
- Sweet Red Bean Cake

This class is taught by Elaine Sher, the founder of Dash of Soy. Born and raised in Hong Kong, she has lived in Canada/US for almost 30 years and traveled all over the world (nearly 50 countries). Her passion is to share with the world her love for delicious, healthy, and easy-to-make home-style food inspired by her childhood, family, and travels. She is also an artist - creating hand-drawn, illustrated recipes that are easy to follow. You will come for the cooking class, but be prepared to leave with amazing stories, beautiful art, and a different perspective on the Chinese cuisine.

What else makes Dash of Soy unique?
- Small-group classes (6 students max) with lots of hands-on opportunities and time for questions
- Use of organic and local ingredients whenever possible
- Beautiful step-by-step illustrated recipes to take home
- Share a meal around a custom and locally-built farmhouse table
- Easy and free street parking nearby
- Located in Georgetown, one of the oldest neighborhoods of Seattle. Come explore this industrial chic town and have a drink at one of the oldest pubs in Seattle (Jules Maes Saloon), taste free samples at the Fran's Chocolates Chocolates headquarter and factory, have a slice of cake at the award-winning Deep Sea Sugar & Salt, and/or do wine tasting at the largest urban winery of the pacific northwest (Charles Smith Wines Jet City Winery). Just to name a few!

Dash of Soy is located at 6726B Corson Ave S, Seattle WA 98108.
