Event description
Nature of the Game- Home School family class

About this Event

This Home School class will involve the interactive traveling exhibit that will be throughout the Gardens November 16 thru April 5. This hands-on exhibit incorporates large familiar games with nature education concepts. Examples include I-Spy, where students find hidden plants and animals in depictions of biomes; large chess pieces that must be moved to create food chains and then food webs; Kerplunk with balls representing endangered species and the poles human actions that can affect them; and a Ball Maze Balance where students work together to move balls through a maze to complete the process of photosynthesis, plus more! In this class we will venture out to enjoy the games and also play a classroom game you can take home with you.

Home School classes are priced for one adult and up to two children to attend. The classes are primarily geared for 9 to 12 year olds. (Younger children may attend but the parent should be prepared to help them with certain activities.)

Instructor: Sandi Linn, Education Supervisor.

Prior to working at Leu Gardens, Sandi was the Director of Education at the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens, and then the Curator of Education at the Orange County Regional History Center. She also worked for Savenature.org's Insect Dicovery Lab - Florida. She is the author of Invasive Species, a YA fictional novel incorporating real environmental concepts.
