Event description
Invasive Species - Home School family class

About this Event

What makes a species invasive? Are all non-native plants and animals invasive? We'll explore many different sides of these questions in this class but this is also a book talk! When you register for this class you will receive a FREE copy of the middle school /YA fiction novel Invasive Species, by Sandi Linn, Education Supervisor at Leu Gardens. This particular class is geared to 11 through 15 year olds, though younger children are welcome. The novel is fiction but presents several environmental concepts. Everyone should read the book, or have it read to them, prior so we can discuss it in class.

Home School classes are priced for one adult and up to two children to attend. The classes are primarily geared for 9 to 12 year olds. (Younger children may attend but the parent should be prepared to help them with certain activities.)

Instructor: Sandi Linn, Education Supervisor.

Prior to working at Leu Gardens, Sandi was the Director of Education at the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens, and then the Curator of Education at the Orange County Regional History Center. She also worked for Savenature.org's Insect Dicovery Lab - Florida. She is the author of Invasive Species, a YA fictional novel incorporating real environmental concepts.
