Description

Join us for a half day workshop on how to grow your own food using hydroponic technology!

This course is taught by several University of Florida Extension experts and will include presentations on:

  • Pest ID and control for indoor crops
  • How to build a simple but effective home system
  • Basics of aquaponics (raising fish with your vegetables)
  • How to set-up and use your FREE tabletop hydroponics system to grow your own lettuce at home.

Agenda:

9:00AM- Introduction and pretest

9:10AM- “Aquaponics 101- Fish Basics” with Maxine Hunter, UF/IFAS Extension Marion County Residential Horticulture Agent

10:00AM- Break

10:10AM- “Set it and Forget it Hydroponics” with Hannah Wooten, UF/IFAS Extension Seminole County Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems Agent

11:00AM- Break

11:10AM- “Identification and Control of Indoor Insect Pests” with Dr. William Lester, UF/IFAS Extension Hernando County (includes lab session)

12:00PM- Break

12:10PM- “Getting Started With Your New Tabletop System” with UF/IFAS Extension Hernando County Master Gardener Volunteers Jason Murray and Paul Ramos

12:45PM- Final questions, a review of University of Florida resources and posttest
