Holy Saturday: Virtual Silent Retreat
Event Information
About this Event
Unity of Fairfax’s Retreat Team and Prayer Chaplain Ministry invite you to participate virtually (via Zoom) in four silent meditations scheduled for Holy Saturday.
About Holy Saturday
“It is finished,” Jesus said before he died.
Jesus the man had finished the work he came to do, but hidden away in the womb of the tomb, new life and new work was preparing to spring forward.
Holy Saturday is a day of deep abidance, as the anguish of crucifixion is tempered with pregnant expectation. Faith is tested, as we rest in stillness and silence, and await what will fill our innermost emptiness.
About Each Meditation Session
Each meditation will open with a short reading related to this mysterious and hallowed period of Holy Week, and a meditation bell will take us into approximately 30 minutes of shared stillness and silence.
There will be 15–20 minutes of free time between the two morning meditations and the two afternoon meditations, with a longer period for lunch.
Participants’ microphones will be muted throughout the day. And, while maintaining silence at home with our families may not be practical, everyone is encouraged to maintain an inner presence of reverence and devotion between meditations.
You are welcome to participate in any or all of the scheduled meditations.

- First meditation: 10:30 a.m.
- Second meditation: 11:30 a.m.
