About this Event
Nottinghamshire County Council, in conjunction with Unison, will be running an all-day event in the Assembly Hall at the County Hall on the 27 January 2020. This event has been developed with the support of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust. This event is to remember those who suffered as a result of the Holocaust and subsequent genocides around the world.
The event will consist of a programme of activities including, displays, videos and a candle lighting memorial ceremony. A number of guest speakers have also been invited to speak about Holocaust survivors. Order of activities on the day:
9:00 – 12:00 noon Displays and videos, discussions, walk to memorial
12:00 – 12:30 pm Opening of the event and lighting of memorial candle.The Leader of the Council will open the event.
12:30 – 12:40 pm Names ceremony :The names of children who were victims of the Holocaust will be read at the event.
12:40 – 13:00 pm Opening of buffet
13:00 – 13:20 pm “RAF Sgt Ralph Frank” : Speaker: Mark Howard

13:40 – 14:00 pm “Story of a Holocaust Survivor” : Speaker: Lucy Fox
14:00 - 14:20 pm "Bosnia" : Speaker: Ivan Wels
14:20 – 15:00 pm “Italy/Italian Holocaust" : Speaker: Dr Martina Salvante, Nottingham University
