The Divine Script Society was formed on 11th April 2011, with a prime focus to ‘provide an alternative choice of livelihood’ for women and children living in the Indian #slums. Divine Script’s three key objectives are:
- securing childhood
- restoring innocence
- preventing #humantrafficking
Divine Script currently operates in the Munshiganj red light district, and nearby marginalised communities, with the hopes of expanding to other red light districts in the future.
Munshiganj’s red light district, alone, is home to approximately 2000 prostitutes, whose children struggle for basic rights every single day – facing exploitation from their landlords, pimps, clients and other negative influences.
Divine Script’s Income Generation Program will create employment opportunities for these women, with the hopes of enabling them to leave their existing life of extreme physical torture, violence and lack of basic human rights behind, whilst also preventing human trafficking at large.
