Location:
Built in 1912, the Sylvia Hotel is a designated heritage building, overlooking the ocean at what is currently called English Bay, in the traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh nations.
Live Music:
- The Merry McKentys hail from Cortes Island, BC. Their multi-part harmonies, foot-stomping fiddle tunes, and wholesome old-time family vibe have been enchanting audiences throughout the West Coast of Canada and the US. Their instrumentation is an ever-changing medley as fiddles, guitars, banjo, cello, accordion, and bass are swapped between musicians to accompany their diverse set of original songs, traditional Canadian & Irish fiddle tunes, and contemporary folk covers. They’ve performed and toured together extensively since the release of their first studio album in 2013; often sailing up and down the West Coast in their wooden ketch, playing at folk clubs, community dances, and music festivals on the Gulf & Discovery Islands. merrymckentys.com
- The Solaris Project is a collaboration of musicians whose aim in performing, recording, and giving away music is to raise the awareness, consciousness, and response-ability of those playing and listening, and thereby enable right action on behalf of all beings everywhere. Solaris includes eight or more multi-instrumentalist musicians and songwriters playing acoustic guitars, keyboard, accordion, trumpet, saxophone, mandolin, drums, bass, fiddles, and more. Solaris performances have been described as "mind Blowing" and "magical," with "pure and relevant" music, "beautiful harmonies," and "so positive" lyrics leaving audiences "nothing short of inspired and uplifted" or "absolutely blown away." solarismusic.org
