Holly Jolly Cookie Bash
Sat, December 10, 2016, 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM EST
Join Santa’s elves in his downtown Grand Rapids cookie-making shop to make batches of cookies to share with friends and families this holiday season. In this four-hour class, you will make two dozen each of four different cookies: festive shortbread and lime zest drops, dark chocolate and sour cherry medallions, beautiful prune rugelach cookies, and the ultimate cookie bars with white chocolate, macadamia nuts, and peanut butter. When you finish this class you will leave the mess with us, and take away cookies for all!
This is a Technique & Skill class. Click here to learn more.
CLASS INFORMATION AND POLICIES
REGISTRATION: Registration will close a minimum of one day before the class date. Currently, use of gift cards to pay for class registrations is not available online. Please visit us in the Market Administration office on the second floor during normal Market hours to pay with gift cards.
ALLERGIES/SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: All allergies and/or special needs or considerations MUST be stated in detail on the registration form - FOOD allergies especially. We do our best to accommodate needs and allergies; however, The Downtown Market’s Teaching Kitchen is not an allergy safe environment. We use butter, sugar, flour, eggs, and tree nuts in our facility and do our best to prevent cross contamination.
REFUNDS: A one-week notice is required for cancellation of any class. Classes canceled in advance of one week will receive a refund and may incur a 10% processing fee. Classes not canceled within one week of the scheduled class date will not be refunded. If you are unable to attend a class, and the refund deadline has passed, we invite you to send a friend in your place. Just let us know in advance so we can update registration and food allergy information. All classes are subject to cancellation, rescheduling, or instructor replacement. Recipes and ingredients are subject to change based on availability.
NOTE: Unexpected absences, including illness, will not be refunded.
EMERGENCY CONTACT: An emergency contact must be provided for all participants in childrens' classes, including name and phone number. In addition, parents will be required to sign in/sign out kids and provide names and contact information for anyone additional authorized to drop off or pick up kids from classes.
FOOD/DRINK: We will cook up snacks in the kitchen, so don't worry about packing your own (this includes kids' Simmer Camps, where campers will make a meal they will eat onsite for lunch each day). Please make sure to let us know of any food allergies or intolerances. We will have a cash bar where you can purchase beverages. No need to bring your own. We have you covered! If you shop in the Market Hall prior to class and need to put any perishable food puchases in our cooler, please let our sous chef know on your way into class.
PERSONAL BELONGINGS: We have everything you need for class - all the equipment, the ingredients, the aprons, and the fun! For certain classes, we may be outside for up to one hour. If the participant would like to wear a hat or sunscreen, please send those items along. We have coat racks for jackets/purses. Please do not bring other personal belongings to class as we have plenty of recipes and activities planned and wouldn't want your special items to get lost.
BEHAVIOR: We hope everyone comes to class ready to have a lot of fun and learn some tricks of the trade! Although group interaction and socializing is encouraged during our classes, please be respectful to instructors and fellow class participants to make sure everyone has a great time. For children's classes, kids should come prepared to engage in group activities and be ready to get hands dirty but also take turns and share the hands-on experience with others in their class. Inappropriate behavior or class disruption will be addressed by the instructors and, if necessary, brought to parents' attention.
