Dr. Jason Vickers of United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio will deliver our first annual Wesley Scholars Lecture, which will be titled, "Holiness and Mediation: A Wesleyan Recipe for Renewal." Dr. Vickers describes the lecture as follows:
At their Spirit-filled best, Wesleyans have been committed to a vision of ministry that revolves around the mediation and transmission of God's holiness. In this lecture, Professor Vickers will contend that recovering this vision of ministry is essential for the renewal of our churches, our ministries, and our lives.
Dr. Vickers is Professor of Theology and Wesleyan Studies as well as President’s Associate for Mission Advancement at United Theological Seminary. He teaches in the areas of Systematic Theology, Wesley Studies, Methodist Doctrine, and Philosophy of Religion. Jason is currently conducting research on transitions in Methodist Christology and is especially interested in the relationship between Christological transitions and changes in political vision and commitments within the Methodist tradition.
Dr. Vickers is Editor of the Wesleyan Theological Journal, a member of the editorial board for Wesley and Methodist Studies and is Commissioned as an elder in the Western North Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church. He has authored and edited many books and journal articles, a complete list of which can be found here. He is married to Lacey, and together they have three children (Garrett Reid, McKenna Eve, and Henley Elise) and one Boston Terrier (Cooper).
