What's new in Project Online for Microsoft 365- A morning of Demos


Agora presents a morning of demonstrations to highlight what's new in Microsoft Project Online. We will discuss the new agile planning options; demonstrate how your teams can collaborate flexibly across Microsoft Project Online, Microsoft Planner, and Microsoft Teams; review the powerful reporting options using PowerBI (Business Intelligence) and Machine Learning AI (Artificial Intelligence) for PPM; and share what's new in the Agora Enterprise Apps commonly used to extend the platform.

Session Details:

An Introduction to Microsoft Project Online

We will demonstrate the end to end Project Portfolio Management features available in Microsoft Project Online, including demand generation (intake), portfolio analysis and prioritization, capacity planning, program and project execution, resource management, status management, and audience targeted reporting. The demo will discuss both the out of the box capabilities of the tool and provide an overview of common approaches to extend the platform using apps. This is an introduction for those not familiar with Project Online.


Agora Enterprise Apps - Releases for 2018
We will discuss and demonstrate the new out of the box features we have provided for the Enterprise Apps, expected to be released to all customers in January 2018. We will cover the following topics:

  • New features and solutions in your current apps, designed to tackle common business challenges
  • New reports available to Enterprise App customers
  • PORT 365 integration with PowerBI and Excel Online reports
  • Apps Development Roadmap for 2018


Agora Enterprise Apps - New App Announcement
The Financial Management app will facilitate the management of all data related to budgets, funding purchase orders, change orders, invoices and vendors. It would also include reporting and integration with existing apps like Status Manager or Approval Manager. We will provide insight into the vision of this new upcoming App for 2018. We are looking to share our development roadmap and incorporate your feedback, before releasing the app.


Integrating Planner and Teams in Project Online

With the integration between the Project Online Desktop Client and Planner, Project managers retain control over the project’s work breakdown structure in Project Online, reduce complexity of project plans, and enabling the task owners to further break down granular task details in the lightweight Planner tool. Planner can also be used within Microsoft Teams to enable all team members to collaborate more effectively by having visibility assignments across the team, task details, due dates, status and conversations that otherwise may be in emails.

We will demonstrate common scenarios in matrix organizations to showcase how your Project Managers will use Microsoft Project Online in conjunction with team members using the Microsoft Planner and Microsoft Teams tools.


Agile features in Project Online

We will demo how you can use the following agile project management features in your Project Online Desktop client:

  • Create new agile projects
  • Display agile views for your existing "waterfall" projects
  • Apply Scrum and Kanban methodologies, including viewing task boards, creating backlogs, and tracking sprints,
  • Out of the Box reports on agile statistics.


Power BI report pack for Project Online

Project Online users now have the ability to download 13 visually rich reports out of the box with PowerBI. The new content pack is designed to support the management needs of project managers, portfolio managers and resource managers, by retrieving planning and execution data from Project Online and arranging the data to support timely decision making. The new content pack report includes reports in three key perspectives: Individual Projects, Portfolio of projects and the organization’s resources. We will demonstrate:

  • PowerBI features and discuss how it can be useful for your organization

  • The 13 Out of Box reports and dashboards for PPM

  • What it takes to tailor the reports to your unique organizational requirements (best practices and training recommendations)


AI for PPM

According to Harvard Business Review, “companies have seen great improvements by transitioning administrative tasks such as juggling employee schedules or reporting to AI, allowing managers to focus on thinking creatively, analyzing and interpreting data to make judgements, and developing strategy.

Gartner estimates "by 2030, 80% of routine work— which represents the bulk of human hours expended across today’s PPM disciplines — could be eliminated as a result of collaboration between humans and smart machines"

We will discuss how you can utilize Microsoft's machine learning tools can help you start the journey to AI. By using your project data archives today, AI tools can better forecast team performance on future projects, deliver accurate benchmarks on timelines to help projects stay on track, and drive estimations that keep budgets intact.
