About this Event

8 weeks Relationship Workshop for Couples and Singles based on a book "Hold me Tight" by Dr. Sue Johnson, developer of Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy

We all want to love and to be loved, we all want to be accepted for who we are, we want to be seen and heard, we want to be safe, we want to be real and we want to be in a relationship with someone who is there for us, no matter what.

Why is it so hard? Why most relationships fail? Let’s explore and let's learn what makes or breaks a relationship.

A safe, loving, lasting love is entirely possible if we have a map. These 8 weeks offers you that map.

What is this workshop is all about:

- Creating a relationship that is your Safe Haven.

- Gaining a deeper understanding of yourself and your partner based on attachment theory, understanding how we are wired for love, our deepest needs, and why the strategies we use do not work.

- Improving your partnership not just by learning new skills, but by creating deep, profound, authentic moments of connection, healing the past and growing your ability to have conversations that bring you closer even when you are talking about most triggering topics.

- Understanding what happens when you fight and how to break that vicious circle.

- Creating a secure, lasting bond that both of you always longed for.

8 Thursdays

April 9, 16, 23, 30 and May 7, 14, 21 and 28

Time: 7 - 9 (9:30) p.m.

Where: Scarboro Community Association, 1727 14 ave SW, Calgary

Cost: $400 for couple, $250 individual

First class only: $25 each

The best way to get benefits out of this program is to attend it together. We’ll be doing exercises in class and have homework for you to do with your partner. You'll be working on your relationship for the next 8 weeks to create a major shift.

What if only one person can come?

Child care/work schedule/life happens - I get it. You can come by yourself and learn, you can read the companion book “Hold me tight” together and follow along and do the exercises - you will get the benefits, and it’s so much better than doing nothing. But I’d recommend doing some private sessions to compliment the program.

What if I’m single? Can I come and learn?

Yes you can, you can join us and learn from your past relationship and learn invaluable skills that will help you start your new relationship on a whole new level. In some ways, this will be even easier - you won’t be triggered by your partner, you can honestly look into your own heart and mind and do the work needed to heal from the past. You won’t have a benefit of doing practices with an intimate partner and working on a current relationship - but you’ll be partnered with other single people in the group working together to learn from the past and to build the future you want. You can certainly bring a friend.

Please Note: The Hold Me Tight®: Conversations for Connection Program is an educational resource for couples interested in enhancing the quality of their relationship. This program is not intended to be a substitute for individual couples therapy with a trained professional therapist. If you, your partner or a family member are experiencing significant relationship distress, serious depression or mental health problems, we urge you to seek professional treatment immediately and consider using this program only with the help of a trained mental health professional.

Your Facilitator: Rovena Skye. For the last 10 years Rovena's work was all about what makes relationships work. She brings to the table her own experience (trauma, marriage, kids, divorce; monogamous, poly, celibate, monogamous; depression, healing; new relationship, blended family, cats - the quest continues); her training (eastern and western approach to relationships, Gottman Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy, Love Coach Academy, Trauma work, Sacred Sexuality, Somatic approach), but more importantly her compassion and love for people. In short, she cares.

We hope you can join us. Any questions - please send us a message
