Avon Police Department Safety Message
Welcome to the 3rd annual Hoffmann Commercial Real Estate Reds, Whites, and Brews American Made Festival in Avon, Colorado June 28, 2014. Our goal is to ensure that attendees have a safe experience while visiting Avon and attending the festivities. The Avon Police Department will be present to ensure public safety, control vehicular/pedestrian traffic, and assist attendees with a variety of needs. Uniformed police officers will be wearing reflective vests to increase visibility. If you need assistance during the event, please find one of the officers, or in the event of an emergency, dial 911.
Please allow me to highlight some important points to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable time in the Rocky Mountains. Remember that the weather in June may be cool or warm, so check the forecast ahead of time so you can properly dress for conditions. It is always a good idea to have a light jacket and hat in case the weather cools. This time of year our rivers have higher flows from snow melt, so please use caution around water. If you choose to consume alcohol, please do so in moderation, taking into consideration the elevation and dry climate which tend to exacerbate the effects of alcohol. It is recommended to stay hydrated with water in addition to any consumption of alcohol. Keep in mind that public consumption of marijuana is illegal in Colorado.
I encourage festival attendees to car-pool or use public transportation. If you choose to consume alcohol at the festival, designate a sober driver beforehand and always buckle your seat belt. In closing, while visiting this awesome community, be sure to take in the summer experiences such as hiking, biking, fishing, or just enjoy the many fine restaurants that Avon and the surrounding community has to offer. I wish each of you a safe and pleasant experience while visiting Avon and please feel free to contact the Avon Police Department with any questions or concerns that you may have prior to or during your stay.
