Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will know the definition of hoarding and DSM-V criteria.
  • Participants will gain knowledge about prevalence, vulnerabilities, psychiatric comorbidity and key features of this disorder.
  • Participants will gain knowledge about clinical and case management interventions for hoarding.

Presented by: Nirmala Dhar, LCSW

Nirmala Dhar is a licensed clinical social worker with a Master’s degree in Social Work from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work, Washington University (St. Louis, MO) and Bombay University, India.

She has 30 years of experience in behavioral health and currently coordinates the Older Adult Behavioral Health Initiative for the Oregon Health Authority's Health Systems Division. Prior to this, she was with Clackamas County Behavioral Health Services for 18 years. Ten of those years were spent as the geriatric mental health specialist for Clackamas County.

Her areas of professional interest include: positive aging; social justice; quality improvement; health metrics; and health transformation.
