Sailing Session Rules and Recommendations
Hawaii Kai Boat Club at The Shack in Hawaii Kai
Morning start time: 9:00 AM
Afternoon finish time: 2:30 PM
WHAT TO WEAR
All students should wear swimsuits. A towel and a change of dry clothes are recommended. Please label clothing for identification. Students must wear waterproof sunscreen SPF30 or higher. A rashguard or wetsuit is optional. HKBC rashguards and T-shirts will be available for purchase the first day of a session.
There is no secure storage at HKBC or the Shack for personal belongings. Sailors are discouraged from bringing valuables, electronics, cell phones, and cash. Lunch will be provided.
A Coast Guard approved personal floatation device (PDF), life vest, must be worn while on HKBC docks or a boat. We recommend type III life jackets (vest type) so students can have greater mobility while sailing. There are life vests available to borrow at HKBC. Please confirm your child's size is available to borrow prior to class. Sailor owned life jackets must be properly sized and be labeled with a permanent marker.
Please call Erin Stephenson at 410-919-3094 to report an absence.
LEAVING AT THE END OF THE DAY
We require that all boat club equipment be stowed at the end of each day. All students must stay until the equipment is stored properly. If a sailor must leave before 2:30 PM, then please notify Erin by note or phone call. This will help ensure the sailor is back at the Shack and ready to leave on time.
