Two Day Training event:

Thursday June 14th NAMI Connect Suicide Prevention

Friday June 15th HIV/AIDS for Recovery Support Workers

$80 per person - This is for BOTH classes. This fee is for both classes, if you only need one you would still be required to pay the full registration fee. Registration is for one person for both classes only.

These classes meet the CRSW Requirement for 6 hours of Suicide and 6 hours of HIV/AIDS

Thursday June 14th 8:30AM-4PM NAMI Connect Suicide Prevention

Description of Presentation: Designated a National Best Practice program, Connect prevention/intervention training incorporates key aspects of the National Suicide Prevention Strategy in a comprehensive training model which promotes an integrated community response to suicide prevention. This Connect training is open to community providers in the Regional Public Health Networks in NH, and Recovery Support Workers.

Goals & Objectives of workshop:

  • The ability to recognize risk and protective factors and respond to warning signs for suicide

  • Skills for intervening with individuals at risk and connecting them with appropriate resources

  • Insights into suicide data and how age, gender, culture and other demographic and diversity factors impact suicide risk

  • An understanding of the barriers to getting help and positive action steps to promote help-seeking

  • Review of best practices about restricting access to lethal means and safe messaging

  • Discussion of community resources and strategies to increase suicide prevention efforts through the integration, coordination and collaboration of community services

  • Using a holistic, socio-ecological model, Connect examines suicide in the context of the individual, family, community, and society.


Friday June 15th 8:30-4PM HIV/AIDS for Recovery Support Workers

This one-day training is geared towards substance abuse professionals and will provide participants with basic and updated information about HIV/AIDS and other STDs. This includes risk factors, modes of transmission, signs and symptoms, prevention, the relationship between HIV and other STDs. This training will explore the relationship between substance misuse and HIV/AIDs as well as the correlation between mental health and HIV/AIDS. Additionally, this training will increase the knowledge around the benefits of HIV testing.

Goals & Objectives, Participants will:

  • Increase knowledge level about HIV/AIDS sexual transmission

    • Increase knowledge level about HIV/AIDS prevention

    • Increase knowledge around signs and symptoms of HIV/AIDs

    • Demonstrate how to assess a client’s risk for acquiring HIV/AIDS

    • Explain the correlation between mental health and HIV/AIDS

    • Increase ability to discuss the inter-relationship of HIV and other STDs

    • Increase knowledge around relationship between HIV/AIDS and Substance Users

    • Explain the process and benefits of HIV testing

    • Increase knowledge around Hep C and Substance Users
