Description

Parent Education Workshop

Speaker: Julie Johnson, Parent Coach and Educator

Target Audience: Preschool and Early Elementary Parents

Aggression in children is common. But often when our children are hitting, biting, or pinching, we have knee jerk reactions. We yell, we say things we regret, and dole out harsh punishment in the hopes that our child won’t hurt anyone again. But these reactions don’t get at the underlying problem, they don’t curb the aggression, and we feel bad in the aftermath of it all. In this workshop, you’ll gain the exact strategies you need to stop aggression and help your child be more loving, compassionate, and playful.

Julie Johnson has been in the field of education for over twenty years as a teacher, trainer, and researcher. She has taught middle and high school students, provided professional development for teachers and administrators, conducted research in classroom and school settings, and led support groups for adolescents and parents. She has a Masters in Education and was certified by Hand in Hand Parenting to teach Parenting by Connection—an emotion-based, trauma informed parenting program. Julie currently conducts classes and consultations for parents and practitioners throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and via phone and Internet.
