Event description

Description

What if your students could see their role in the world? Imagine your students constructing connections between local decisions and global decisions.

Participate in a cohort model with grade and content like teachers to experience the key shifts from the History-Social Science Framework, with an emphasis on the inquiry approach to discover the historical narrative primary sources, and engaging students in their role as a citizen in their community. Learn from scholars, local community groups and colleagues how to challenge students to participate in the world around them, to develop their civic understanding, and to strengthen their voice with a deeper understanding of the peoples who have spoken before them, and to look at the world through a variety of perspectives.

The cohort will provide time for grade like groups and topics to be shared that meet the needs of the participants who sign-up for this work.

Dates: January 31, February 8, March 22 & April 24, 2019

Time: 12:30-3:30 pm

Audience: TOSA’s/Coaches/Instructional Leaders/Department Chairs (at least one representative for your district)

If you have any questions regarding registration, please contact Ellen Arenas at 650.802.5332 or earenas@smcoe.org.
