September's History Quiztory brings you "Reverend Samuel Eakin, the fighting parson".

He served in both the NJ & DE militia during the American Revolutionary War, was the first Pastor at the Pencader Presbyterian Church to preach in English (as opposed to Welsh), and (mysteriously), interred at Pigeon Run Cemetery near Red Lion.

Presented by George Widger, Friends of Pigeon Run Cemetery and the Pencader Heritage Area Assoc.

See below for upcoming presentations. Join us for any or all!

Oct. 17th "Voices of the Past"

Willis Phelps, interprets James Elbert, Company C, 8th Infantry, USCT. Elbert was a free black from Polktown in Delaware City who enlisted as a private In the U.S. Colored Troops.

Presentation by Laura Lee & Willis Phelps from the Friends of the African Union Church Cemetery.

Nov. 21st "The Power of the Press: Newark Post founder Everett Johnson's influence on Newark".

Mr. Johnson was a man out of time in amazing ways and sadly, quite literally. There are few who have dedicated and positively influenced so much and yet he is remembered by too few.

Presented by Josh Shannon, Editor of the Newark Post.
