Event description

Description

For decades, Jacksonville Florida was nicknamed “The Hartford of the South,” owing to the number of insurance companies based here throughout the twentieth century. How that came to be, and who made it happen, will be the focus of the Jacksonville Historical Society’s September Speaker Series program. Leading insurance executive J. F. Bryan, IV, will discuss the history of the insurance industry in Jacksonville, its growth and impact on the region. Join us at Old St. Andrews for a look at the people and businesses that made Jacksonville the insurance center of the Southeastern United States.
