About this Event

If you attended the previous events in our Bound with History: Encounters with the Rose Library’s Collections Series, you’ll want to mark your calendar. On Thursday, Nov. 7, we are hosting our third event, “History of Emblem Books” (16th-17th century) from 5-6:30 p.m. in Rose Library.

Walter Melion, Asa Griggs Candler Professor of Art History, and Kelin Michael, a PhD art history student from Emory University, will cover the history of emblem books in their lectures. Dr. Melion will talk about the development and history of emblem books, and Kelin Michael will speak about Alciato’s emblems. Relevant items from the Rose Library’s collection will be available for viewing after the talks.
