About this event
The histories are usually a document, or an object (such as obituary & funeral programs) gathered from a community. The goal is to collect, preserve and digitize the histories. Participants are asked to bring their family obituaries and funeral programs to have them scanned in by the International African American Museum (IAAM). Each person can contribute up to 10 obituaries or funeral programs.
Each participant will receive back the original documents and saved to their jump drive (participants are required to bring their own drives), or they also can be emailed.Participants will have the opportunity to participate in an oral history interview with an on-site representative about themselves or members of their family.
