Advance registration for this event is closed. Spots are still open, so please join us at the 2300 Club beginning at 6 p.m.
Did you know that until 1991 bars in Virginia were legally prohibited from serving alcohol to gays and lesbians? ABC regulations stated that a bar’s license may be suspended or revoked if the bar “… has become a meeting place and rendezvous for homosexuals, prostitutes, pimps, panderers, gamblers or habitual law violators…”
On Friday, August 12th, the 2300 Club on Church Hill will be a “meeting place and rendezvous” for Richmond’s LGBT community at Second Fridays Happy Hour from 6 – 9 pm. Join us as we remember our past and celebrate twenty years of progress towards equality at this monthly event benefitting the Gay Community Center of Richmond.
The Valentine Richmond History Center will also be on hand with tickets to their Richmond Gay & Lesbian History Bus Tour, and the Rainbow Minute will also be there with stories of Richmond’s LGBT History. The Richmond Business Alliance also joins the monthly event. James Limousine is providing a Silent Auction package valued over $500 including limousine transportation and two dinners at the 2300 Club with proceeds benefitting GCCR and the Valentine Richmond History Center.
This month’s event also features a list of vintage drink specials inspired by Richmond’s LGBT past. Bring friends and join GCCR, The Richmond Business Alliance, the Richmond History Center and the Rainbow Minute for this historic Happy Hour!
