Description
The Hispz14 Social Tour (Hispanicize HX) lands in San Francisco and with the help of LAM, it will be THE event of the year!
The event will be a creative, multi-industry gathering that will bring Latino/multicultural influencers from social media, blogging, marketing, film and music together to network and discover new ideas.
Together, we will bring diverse industries and social media influencers that have attended Hispanicize Event in the past, or have a strong interest in attending in the future.
Throughout the tour, HX will be showcasing dynamic speakers (TEDXStyle) to briefly speak about a compelling or offbeat topic that can broadly range from topics like creativity, career development, entrepreneurialism, marketing, tech, innovation and social media.
In San Francisco, we have the pleasure to learn from:
Martha-Edith Hernandez - The power of face-to-face customer interviews
Tiq and Nic Chapa - How to Design Human Behavior
Brian Rashid - It's Your Hour
In addition, with the partnership of Latino Startup Alliance, we will host a startup pitch competition where 3 startups will have the chance to pitch and win a spot at the national Hispanicize Pitch competition.
Last but not least, we will have the innovation lounge presented by Verizon, where you'll have the opportunity to learn about innovative products and innitiatives in the mobile sector.
Concluding musical performances by Los Rakas, who's latest single landed on the soundtrack of EA Sports FIFA 2014!

Martha-Edith Hernandez is Lean LaunchPad Course Manager at the Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley. She works directly with the UC Berkeley faculty in recruiting and setting up early phase tech startups for success. We teach the Lean LaunchPad curriculum based on Steve Blank's "Startup Owner's Manual." The premise of the course is to teach the participants what constitutes a true customer segment. In order to do this, we require that they do 100 face-to-face interviews with potential customers in 7 weeks. At the end of the 7 weeks we've seen some miraculous pivots and some great breakthroughs. At the end of the 7 weeks we expect the teams to give us a "Go or No Go Decision." They need to decide if this is something they expect to continue full-time and start a real company or if they decide it's not a viable business. The Lean curriculum accelerates the "Fail Fast" methodology. Would you rather spend 7 weeks or 7 years of your life working on a project that may or may not have any commercial viability?
