Event description

Description

On September 17, 1968 President Lyndon. B. Johnson issued Proclamation 3869 establishing National Hispanic Heritage Week, which eventually expanded into the current month-long commemoration of Hispanic Heritage Month.

It is with special pride, that I call the attention of my fellow citizens to the great contributions to our national heritage made by our people of Hispanic descent – not only in the fields of culture, business and science, but also through their valor in battle.

In continuing the legacy of celebrating the contributions of the Hispanic/Latino/LatinX community, The Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs is honored to host Alejandra Castillo, President/CEO of the YWCA as its keynote in opening Hispanic Heritage Month. Ms. Castillo is a proud alumna of The LBJ School (MPAff '98). She is one of the foremost leaders in the country having served in two presidential administrations. Under her leadership the YWCA has continued to expand its outreach and amplify the voices of America’s diverse communities.

Please RSVP, a light lunch will be provided.
