About this event
Join the UVA Center for Politics’ Global Perspectives on Democracy program for this Ambassador Series event with His Excellency Juan Gabriel Valdés, Ambassador of Chile to the United States. Ambassador Valdés will participate in a dialogue with Chile expert and UVA Professor of History, Professor Thomas Klubock, on the relationship between Chile and the United States, the recent vote to rewrite the nation’s constitution, and the latest issues impacting Chile and the region. Significant time will be reserved for Q&A.
Ambassador Valdés previously served as Chile’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador to the United Nations, Ambassador to Spain, Ambassador to Argentina, Chief of the U.N. Mission in Haiti, previous service as Ambassador to the U.S. and other distinctive roles in government and academia.
