Description

The 3rd annual Hiroshima-Nagasaki Peace Memorial will be held on Friday, August 9th, 2019 at Sacred Heart Parish in Newton Centre, MA. The service starts @ 7:30pm. (Door opens @ 7:00pm)


This year's theme is "IMAGINE PEACE," as we believe that any kind of peace starts with imagining. The program features the song "Imagine," Hibakusha monologue*, Hula 'Auana w/ peace song**, Messages of Peace from Nagasaki and Hiroshima, testimony of Hibakusha (a-bomb survivor), Paper Lantern Ceremony of Peace ft. traditional & contemporary Japanese songs w/ screening of photography tribute from Hiroshima, dynamic kids dance troupe, Lotus Sound~music of the world and the finale song, by the SkyBridge, "WE DECLARE PEACE."


Performers include (in order of appearance): Solomon Murungu, Sara Infini Takagi, Christina R. Chan, Ahura Z. Diliiza, Nirakazi Diliiza, Kokoro Tanimine, Yui Takeuchi, Miho Sato, Move and Inspire (Yuki Hoshi, Yui Oosaki, Sala Wax, dancers & Mai Telesford, choreographer), Juri Love, Jaden Onwuakor, Jayla Onwuakor, Shileta Peregrino Cezario, Paola Munda & Lotus Sound, Xingyu Yao, Emily Prigot, Seira Araki, Erika Araki, June Kresch, Henry Walters and more. Special guest speakers include Yutaka Araki from Hiroshima (w/ Joji Araki, interpreter).

There are two church parking: one next to the sanctuary building on Centre St, and the other is on Crescent Ave, around the corner from the church office building. There is also a city municipal parking (LANGLEY LOT) in the middle of Newton Centre, which is very close to the block the church is located, and is FREE after 6pm until 2am. (Until 6pm, it is 2-hour parking with Pay By Phone app).

Public Transportation is near-by, also. Newton Centre stop on Green Line (D-Line), and a short walk from there.

There are many great restaurants & shops around for you to stop by before / after the event!
