Howard University School of Divinity and Judge Alexander Williams Center at the University of Maryland present; "Hiring, Firing and Everything in Between: Employment Law for Religious Institutions" Seminar. This seminar will educate religious institution leaders about best employment law practices when hiring, managing, and terminating employees in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. The seminar will provide a basic background of key state and federal anti-discrimination statutes, such as the DC Human Rights Act, Maryland’s anti-discrimination laws, and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Ms. Jessica Childress Esq. is the seminar presenter. Ms. Childress is the managing attorney and founder of the Childress Firm PLLC, an employment law firm based in Washington, D.C. She will discuss how anti-discrimination laws apply to churches.
