Description

On November 2, 2017 at 6:30 NDSU Master’s student and rural/agricultural historian John Hest will take part in the Hiram M. and Ada M. Drache Lectures as one of the distinguished speakers for the series. Hest will be speaking on research he has conducted on the importance of Georgetown, Minnesota to the Red River Valley focusing on the Hudson Bay Company’s transfer station that was located on the banks of the Red River in Georgetown. It was in Georgetown where the Hudson Bay Company would load and offload their Red River carts, and steamboats making it a center for commerce in the Red River Valley. After the talk, feel free to stay a little later and explore one of Moorhead’s most historic homes on a guided or self-guided tour.
