On October 26, 2017 from 6:30 to 8:00 the Comstock House will be hosting its second talk in the Hiram M. and Ada M. Drache lecture series that takes place at the Solomon G. Comstock House. North Dakota State graduate student will be discussing the subject of a recent article she had written for MNopedia.org, an online encyclopedia of Minnesota History Topics, Florence “Treetops” Klingensmith. Klingensmith, born in Oakport, Minnesota, was a pioneer in the area of women’s aviation. Among other notable achievements Florence Klingensmith was the first woman in North Dakota to receive her pilot's license, was the world record holder for inside loop in 1931 with 1,078, and won the inaugural Amelia Earhart Cup in 1932 at the National Air Races. After hearing about this amazing woman feel free to stay a little later to enjoy some refreshments and explore the house.
