About this Event
The stage play Hiram Becoming Hank, which depicts the transformation of Hiram King Williams into Hank Williams, one of America’s most famous country music stars, will be performed at the Old Courthouse Museum in Monroeville, AL. The production will include live performances of songs which inspired the young Hiram to become the great singer/songwriter Hank Williams. The play was written by longtime Atlanta Journal and Constitution journalist and author Rheta Grimsley Johnson, along with retired LaGrange (GA) College English professor and Georgia’s Author of the Year in Fiction, John M. Williams.
Performance dates are April 16, 17, 18, 23, 24 & 25, 2021. Friday and Saturday performances will begin at 6:30 pm, with Sunday matinees beginning at 2:00 pm. Weather permitting, the play will take place outside in the Otha Lee Biggs Amphitheater; otherwise, the play will be staged in the courtroom.
