Description

Hipster Racism: the Invisible pillar of oppression

This session will explore Hipster Racism, Cultural Mis-Appropriation and the importance of honoring the connection of artifacts and culture.

So what is Hipster Racism? The causal way or the belief the self proclaimed enlightened white people use their knowledge to rise above racial or sexist tropes and are able to poke fun at racism and sexism in a way that is pithy and clever.

We will discuss the traps that get sprung when not taking other people's experience seriously and taking artifacts out of context even for political or satirical examination.
