Description

Presented by a leading orthopedic surgeon devoted to the treatment of children with cerebral palsy, a pediatric team of specialists from Community Children’s at Community Medical Center and Seattle Children’s Hospital for Children; Hip Dysplasia and Spasticity in Children with Cerebral Palsy: Surveillance and Management, will be a comprehensive look at preserving hip function and managing spasticity in children with CP. This course includes lectures, lab and panel discussion to provide participants with an opportunity to learn and practice hip surveillance strategies, learn how to use the HipScreen app, and increase knowledge about spasticity as it applies to children with CP. This course supports the importance of a multi-disciplinary approach for hip surveillance and spasticity management in children with cerebral palsy.

Keynote Speaker: Vedant Kulkarni, M.D.

Dr. Kulkarni is devoted to treating children with all types of pediatric orthopaedic conditions. Dr. Kulkarni is part of the Cerebral Palsy Center of Excellence at the Northern California Shriners Hospital, where he worked with the program director Dr. Jon R. Davids to develop HipScreen. His research focuses on improving outcomes for children with cerebral palsy and other neuromuscular conditions, Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease and other hip disorders, and traumatic injuries+. Dr. Kulkarni’s professional affiliations include the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the International Perthes Study Group.
