The Ancestry Experience is a night built around Ravel's other-worldly masterwork "Le Tombeau de Couperin" for solo piano. Hinck will perform these technically dazzling pieces which were written as moving tributes to Ravel's closest friends who lost their lives serving in France's armed forces in World War I. Nationally award-winning multimedia artist Phillip Andrew Lewis responds to these themes (of passage into death, memorializing those who have past, and the Asian veneration of dead ancestors evoked in the oriental harmonies of Ravel's music) in a new visual work which will accompany this music.
The Ancestry Experience is an invitation to explore the heart of Chattanooga's Innovation District. The Edney Innovation center is located across from the downtown library, and just down the street from the new Arts Build space which are other hubs of technology and arts in Chattanooga's Innovation District.
