WHAT: The Effie Yeaw Nature Center hike is rated one boot, which means it’s less than 5 miles, less than 1,000 ft elevation gain, and has a good stable trail capable of sustaining a 2 MPH rate. The Nature Center has three trails, each are approximately ¾ mile in length, are known for their panoramic views through the Ancil Hoffman Country Park and along the American River. Much of the stroll will be in the shade of conifers and oaks with some side trials leading down to the river. WHERE: The trailheads begin at the Effie Yeaw Nature Center, located at 2850 San Lorenzo Way in Carmichael. The Nature Center’s phone number is 489-4918.
WHO: This hike is open to everyone who would enjoy, from a hiker’s perspective, easy going trails that meander through flat wooded park environments. Children are encouraged to come – as long as they are old enough to walk, will thoroughly enjoy this hike. Strollers will not work unless they are specifically designed for trail use.
WHEN: On Sunday, Aug 14th, we will meet at the Granite Bay Bayside Church Offices parking lot at approximately 11:15am (immediately following the 9:45am service). We will leave for the hike at 11:30am.
WHAT TO BRING: Wear appropriate hiking gear and apparel, including a hat, sun block, comfortable trail shoes (trail runners, light hiking boots or sneakers), at least 1 liter of water per person, a light lunch with snacks and a camera. We will stop to eat lunch somewhere on the trail. Please review the hiking essentials from the website.

NOTE: Registration closes on Saturday, August 13 at 8:00 PM. You will not be able to register after the above date. Events with no registrations will be canceled. Please print out and bring a signed copy of the Liability Release found on the hiking website and bring with you the morning of the hike.
