Event Information
About this Event
Hazelwood Initiative welcomes residents, local hikers, and conservation professionals to join us throughout the month of February as we explore the Hazelwood Greenway with a critical eye in preparation for our February 22nd greenway improvement planning meeting with the Pittsburgh Department of City Planning and Landforce.

Some things we will be looking at will include
- Health of the ecosystem and areas that need support
- Places where the trail needs to be improved
- Places where additional trails might be created to improve resident connections
- Places to better connect the two sections of the greenway separated by Hazelwood Avenue
DIFFERENT STARTING POINTS FOR EACH HIKE
Sat. Feb. 6 -- 12pm: Meet at the Hazelwood Community Garden (former YMCA location on Chatsworth Ave.)
Sat. Feb. 13 -- 1pm: Meet at the top of East Elizabeth St. at the entrance to the woods
Sun. Feb. 21--1pm: The gazebo in front of the Glen Hazel Towers, 945 Roselle Court
Sat. Mar. 6--1pm: Meet at the top of East Elizabeth St. at the entrance to the woods. (Elizabeth is a dead end street with very limited parking.) We will walk up a dirt path that can be steep and muddy depending on the weather. We may continue the walk up through Calvary Cemetery or explore other potential connections to other parts of the neighborhood.
Sat. Mar. 27th--1pm: FAMILY HIKE with Venture Outdoors. Venture Outdoors will provide a special gift bag for children that will help them to continue being outdoor adventurers throughout the year! This hike will be a little slower and include education about the greenway.
