Event description

HIGHER ETIQUETTE | An Elevated Discussion with Author Lizzie Post, of the Emily Post Institute.

With legalization steadily moving ahead state by state,
the stigma surrounding cannabis use is fading, and the
conversation about what it means to get high is changing.
When it comes to being a respectful, thoughtful, and
responsible consumer of pot, there is a lot you need
 to know.

In Higher Etiquette, Lizzie Post–great-great
granddaughter of Emily Post and co-president of
America’s most respected etiquette brand–explores and
celebrates the wide world of legalized weed. Yes, that Emily Post, as in the Emily Post, American Sweetheart of High Society and the authority on Etiquette.

Who is Emily Post and WHY is this Higher Etiquette book from Lizzie Post a big deal?

In 1922 Emily Post's book, “Etiquette: In Society, In Business, In Politics and At Home,” topped the nonfiction bestseller list, and the phrase “according to Emily Post” soon entered our language as the final word on the subject of social conduct. Mrs. Post, who as a girl had been told that well-bred women cannot work, was suddenly a celebrity and an outstanding American career woman, a position she maintained throughout her lifetime. Her numerous books, a syndicated newspaper column, and a regular network radio program made Emily Post a figure of national stature and importance.

cannabis culture’s long-established norms with the Emily
Post Institute’s tried-and-true principles, of consideration, respect and honesty this book covers
the social issues surrounding pot today, such as-

How to bring it to a dinner party or give it as a gift
Why eating it is different from inhaling it
How to respectfully use it as a guest
How to be behave at a dispensary
  • and so much more!

On May 7th, cannabis entrepreneur and producer Elise McRoberts will host Lizzie Post for an elevated discussion on Higher Etiquette in conjunction with some of California's leading cannabis brands. The trailblazer and author will discuss modern cannabis, classic etiquette, and the intersection of the two; as well as answer their most frequently received questions.

Beginning her research in 2018 "as an outsider looking in," Lizzie interviewed cannabis entreprenuers to build the knowledge Higher Etiquette would champion, connecting with Elise McRoberts in the process. After receiving Higher Etiquette, Elise was SO impressed and felt it deserved a "coming out party," stating that "Lizzie is NOT an outsider looking in, but rather one of us- with a newfound wealth of cannabis knowledge to share!" Elise praises "the attention to detail Lizzie gave our culture shines through in this beautiful and thoughtful guide. She really "gets it," and presents the information in a book that would fit in any cannasseur's collection just as well as a conservative or grandmother's library. I think it's truly groundbreaking and deserves to be celebrated- in highest fashion and form!!"

Before and after the discussion, guests will learn about and experience cannabis from a selection of curated offerings like-

- High Tea served by Kikoko

- Organic Bites w/ optional infusions * vegan, low glycemic, and gluten free options *

- Refreshing CBD and THC mocktails

- Cannabis Edible & Topical educational activations

- Flower Bar

- Vape Bar

- Bubbly & Plant Forward Spring Spritzers

There is no doubt, guests leave with a new view, and appreciation and understanding of cannabis today.

There will be a Q&A, book signing as well as an opportunity to explore newfound cannabis etiquette with curated consumption offerings.

Ticket purchase includes attendance, a hardcover copy of Higher Etiquette, plus an elevated gift bag stocked with products curated by the high hostess.

PRAISE for Higher Etiquette

“This pot primer is at once authoritative and approachable, filled with answers to the sorts of questions that might make a newbie feel like a nerd. For those whose stoner schooling stopped at puff, puff, pass, there is now a literal guidebook. And it’s good.”

“Those new to the cannabis scene, or those curious about it, would do well to check out Post’s work, directed as it is to a more enjoyable and stress-free experience for all involved.”
Publishers Weekly

“This is the coolest book on cannabis culture to date. Lizzie Post nailed it with Higher Etiquette!”
–Tom Marshall, Phish songwriter

“You might not think you need a book on the etiquette of weed, but trust me: you do. With her signature charm, wit, and insight, Lizzie Post illuminates the newest frontier of etiquette and grace. Whether you partake or not, this book is nothing short of delightful.”
–Kelly Williams Brown, author of Adulting and Gracious

Higher Etiquette is incredibly detailed and well thought-out in its description of cannabis social mores and practices, lending the proper credence to a subject that has for too long been hidden or simply thought of as a joke. Cannabis is every bit as important to society as wine or beer and even more complex in terms of its interaction with society and etiquette.”
–Ry Prichard, cannabis specialist and co-host of Bong Appétit

“With its wonderful advice on entertaining with cannabis, Higher Etiquette is a gift. Bravo to Ms. Post for bringing such class and style, as always, to this issue.”
–Cat Cora, award-winning chef, author, restaurateur, and first female inductee into the Culinary Hall of Fame
