In memory of NYC Police Officer John Kelly who was killed in the line of duty, New York City's longest running obstacle race is in its 13th year
Race bag pick-up is Thursday, April 23 from 5 - 8pm at the Carousel in Willowbrook Park - Eton Place entrance off Richmond Avenue, Staten Island. You may have a friend pick up your bib number and tee shirt if you are unable to make it. There is one timing chip on the back of just one of the bibs. Keep the chip away from heat and water. Wear above waste, fastened with safety pins.

Wednnesday evening at 6 pm, group fast pace hike, and at 7 pm group trail runs all year from Greenbelt Nature Center, 700 Rockland Ave., Staten Island. Approx. 5 mile course for both hike and run. No RSVP required - bring a headlamp.
The High Rock Challenge is legendary for its beautiful scenery, challenging and creative obstacles and great comararderie. The course and all "mystery challenges" are designed for a two-person team. Elite athletes, weekend warriors, trail runners, track stars, parents and progeny, and you are invited to participate in this annual spring event along the Greenbelt's trail system in Staten Island, New York.
The High Rock Challenge covers a distance of approximately 10 kilometers. Mystery challenges that test physical and mental ability are located throughout the course. You will run, climb, crawl and most likely - get wet! The course and mystery challenges are different every year and are not revealed until race day. Course is approximately 10-k and no longer than 13K (unless you get lost).
Please visit the sigreenbelt.org calendar of events for weekend group trail runs, beginning in late Spring. Next Level Performance will once again offer free, weekend strength and conditioning classes in High Rock Park beginning Saturday, March 21 at 9 am to prepare you for race day. The Staten Island Athletic Club (SIAC) will continue its trail running series to get you ready for traill running. These sessions are free to all High Rock Challenge registrants.
The High Rock Challenge takes place in all weather conditions. The trail system will always be affected by weather.
It Takes Two: Teams are comprised of two runners and typically have a name that aptly describes you or just has a nice ring to it- there's a space on your application to input your choice for team name.
NEW VENUE FOR RACE BAG PICK-UP: Race number and tee shirt pick up will take place on Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 5 - 8 pm (sorry, we cannot accommodate early arrivals on that day) at the Carousel for all Children in Willowbrook Park, Eton Place entrance off Richmond Ave. You may have someone pick up your number if you cannot make there. A reminder email will be sent out closer to the date. Race day guidelines will also be emailed to all registrants.
NOTE: If you are going for prizes and are competitive, sign up for the early slots in the registration form. The early waves of the race are for FAST and COMPETITIVE racers ONLY. Do not sign up for the competitive slot if you do not fall into this category as you will hold up others who are racing to win. All time slots will be first come/first served. If a time slot fills up, then it will become unavailable on the website.

*There are no refunds for this event, if you can not attend you will recieve a credit towards another event.
Your race fee includes chip timing and bib, high quality wicking tee shirt, giveaways, course markings and mystery challenges, and race day festivities and refreshments.

Since April 2001, the Greenbelt Conservancy, New York City Department of Parks and Recreation and Matthew LeBow of King of the Mountain Events have brought you this fast-paced, fun and exciting two person team Challenge. This one-of-a-kind race takes place in one of the most beautiful parks in all of New York City - The Greenbelt. The event, held in memory of NYC Police Officer John Kelly, who died in the line of duty, is part race, part adventure, part festival and all fun.
